Staying here is like staying at a friends luxury townhouse. The place is full of charming character for you to enjoy. Other guests have told us they like it here and you will like it too.

You are very welcome to stay in our house on your visit. This is how we want you to feel when you arrive here. Just like an invited guest at a friends house.

The historic building in which we are situated is quite lovely. Steeped in a grand history we have kept alive within with a divine design in the rooms. All of the beds here are extremely comfortable with some options for four poster rooms. The loft rooms make excellent use of available space and will make sure you get a good nights sleep.

We have been in York providing high level guest house accommodation for some years now. In that time we have had guests tell us "You offer a lovely breakfast thank you.". Also, "The hosts here are really friendly.". These are just two of many great reasons to stay with us.

Our location is about 1/2 a mile from the city centre but, still within easy reach on foot. If you don't like walking there are frequent buses that run along East Parade and will take you strait into town with no trouble at all. Alternatively you can easily walk to the city walls in about 5 minutes. Walking to the Minster is easy from us. You pass through Monkgate one of the medieval entrances to York and then it is just round the corner. For concise directions on how to do this see below.

To walk to the Minster you come out of our front door and turn to the left. Strait away you will be able to see York Minster on the horizon. Walk strait along East Parade passed all the shops on your right and the bowling green on your left. You will reach a small roundabout in about 3 minutes and here you want to turn right onto Mill Lane. Walk it full length (2 minutes) and turn left onto Heworth Green. Walk the full length of Heworth Green until you cross the River Foss and come to a large roundabout.

Carefully you want to go strait on here crossing the roads using the pedestrian crossings. Once on the other side of the roundabout you will be on a road called Monkgate. You will see the entrance to the walls in front of you and it is through this gate you want to be.

Once inside the city walls you will be on Goodramgate. Walk strait down the road until it forks. You Will see the Cross Keys public house in front of you. Take the right hand fork and a little further on you will see the Minster on your right hand side. Welcome to York!
