We provide you a wonderful residential location to stop in on your visit to our Cathedral city. With a number of splendidly decorated rooms to delight. You will also enjoy the comfortable beds we have, some of which are four posters!

The residential neighbourhood you are in staying here is called Holgate. You will be well placed for visiting city centre shops and attractions here. To get to the city walls from us is a short walk of around 1000 yards and should take you around 12 minutes. The first sight you will get of the walls as you approach from the Southwest is the main, royal entrance to the city Micklegate Bar. You will be in good company as you enter the city through this walled gate as this is the one dignitaries, kings and queens have always used.

You get large beds in good sized rooms to make you really feel at home here. The decor is not lavish but personally chosen to make you feel really comfortable. We don't clutter up the rooms for you either giving you a good amount of space to move in.

The rooms with four poster beds are to die for! Choosing one of these to stay in will make your trip hear all the more memorable. You know you want to so why not treat you and your loved one to something really special.

We believe that when you are staying in someones house, as our guests do in ours here, you deserve to be comfortable and most of all where you stay should be clean. In both cases we pass the tests with flying colours.

We have made our bed and breakfast similar to somewhere we would like to stay when we go on holiday. All the comforts of home and staff with a professional and friendly demeanour always.

Good stuff: Attentive owners/staff. General standard of accommodation, facilities & the food was good, place was clean.

Bad stuff: Nothing really.

Overall: We were treated to a friendly & courteous stay. The facilities were good, location handy for York center & easy access to arterial routes if you wanted to go further afield. Nothing seemed too much trouble for the owners, offering advice on places to visit, eat & directions around & about the local area.

Good stuff: Spotlessly clean, Excellent Food, Staff very pleasant and helpfull.

Overall: We stayed for three nights finding the experience very pleasing and would definitely use Bishops again.
