Also we are very well situated for meals out at the many splendid pubs and restaurants just down the road on High Petergate.

The location of our hotel is what most people will remember about a stay here. There is just no where better to stay in town than outside the mighty York minster. Yet, our friendly staff and award winning restaurant are very much a part of the York experience when you are with us. Good food, great service and situated at the front doors of the most beautiful Gothic cathedral in the UK. In the centre of the historic hub of the city, you are surrounded by the most wonderful of all York has to offer. Great restaurants are a stones throw away, good public houses and of course the fabulous shops all down Gillygate and High Petergate. This really is a dream spot to stay on a visit. You will not get anything to match it.

The position is also very good for theatre goers. We are right around the corner from the York Theatre Royal. So if you are going to see a show, pop into the York Arms pub, where many stars have had a beverage after their show and then walk 5 minutes around the corner, through Boothham Bar to the theatre.

Bad stuff: Evening meal in restaurant a disappointment. Food overpriced. No atmosphere. (Only four other diners. No background music, etc)

Good stuff: Liked the way the staff give a tour of the room facilities. Nice touch was the weather information on a small note at breakfast, even down to an umbrella in the room.

Bad stuff: Room was a bit too warm at night, even when the heating was off.

Overall: Customer service was second to none, very clean room, staff could not do enough for you.

Good stuff: Excellent standard of accommodation for a single women. I was upgraded to a double. Most importantly I felt safe. The room was well thought out,included were a sfae and heated towel rail.

Overall: The porter on my arrival was extremely curteous and helpful and did not expect a tip,leaving before I had a chance to do that.
