Groves hotel is a great place to stay when visiting. Located within 1km of York city centre, We are close to the main attractions, shopping and city centre restaurants. Choosing us gives you a stay in a historic Victorian building, friendly professional staff and comfortable rooms at a good price.

This lovely Victorian residence is close to town, yet tucked away in a quiet cul-de-sac. Your hosts are happy to provide a classic professional experience, with a feel of some of the history all around you.

The history of the building is part of the industrial history of York. Originally commissioned for a Yorkshire trader who planned to expand using the river Ouse to transport his goods. It was in use by the Army during the World Wars. Then it was bought privately and changed into a hotel for you accommodation needs.

We are within easy reach of the Medieval city walls of York. Also, just a little further to the magnificent York Minster and Medieval Stonegate, The main city centre shopping district is only 15 minutes walk from us. Also, we have easy access to local public transport links.

We are known for our professional and friendly service. We know York well and are happy to advise you on where to go and what to see. We are a good value for money hotel close to Yorks Attractions.

Good stuff: Got what you paid for in budget hotel

Bad stuff: Room was in separate building from hotel - obvious budget style. No restaurant, poor choice of breakfast food - no fresh fruit, yoghurt, muesli or healthy choices.
