This splendid York hotel is located inside the walls of York and within 5 mins walk to the city centre. Lady Anne Middleton's is a great choice for your holiday or business trip. The building is quite unique and has history that dates back to 1659.

Professional and courteous staff will give you a warm welcome at Lady Anne's. We provide all our guests with all the modern facilities you would expect from a hotel. As a bonus there is a lovely English garden which the older part of the hotel is in and is a wonder to see in the spring and summer.

Good stuff: excellent location, hotel was homely if a little oldfashioned in decor

Bad stuff: plumbing from other rooms noisy. curtains in bedroom did not keep out light so we were awake at 6am every morning.

Overall: comfortable basic hotel

Good stuff: Friendly staff especially the lady on reception on sunday morning.

Overall: Nice ambience within the hotel, very helful staff.

Good stuff: The room was spacious with plenty of towels, toiletries and tea making facilities. The variety of food availble for breakfast was tremendous. I was glad to see you had soya milk on offer as well as ordinary milk. We had evening meals twice and the food was cooked beautifully with a good choice of vegetables.

Bad stuff: There was no tourist information at all left in my room, although my friend had a brochure in hers. I also did not have a Gideons Bible even though my friend had one in her room. The choice of soup and roast dinner did not vary on the two nights we visited the restaurant for dinner. It would have been nice to have a different soup on the second visit.

Overall: The hotel was quiet and felt relaxed. It was well situated for walking into town although it felt like more than a 10 minute walk to the railway station.

Good stuff: The whole complex was well organised, a pool and gym were available. We enjoyed being in the centre of York and enjoying all the evening life be it the pubs or restaurants. We were surprised it was only a 2 star hotel.

Overall: It was a great weekend and would return there without any hesitation.

Good stuff: It was clean and walkingdistance to town. Also liked the garden outside the hotel. It was inviting. Staff was serviceminded.

Bad stuff: The room seemed old and worn out. We heared banking (like a door slamming)noises from downstairs day and night. Maybe from the kitchen.

Overall: I enjoyed my stay, apart from the fact that the room was not what I expected.

Good stuff: Friendly people and convenient location

Bad stuff: Gas heaters in main reception. May have been a boiler failure but ir made it feel damp.

Good stuff: Excellent location, interesting buildings. Superb breakfast. Restaurant great value for well prepared food.

Bad stuff: No lift to get suitcases upstairs.

Overall: I would happily return to this hotel. Location is great - within city walls and 10 minute walk to shops, but far enough away from pubs and clubs to be peaceful on a Saturday night. Staff are helpful and hotel restaurant provides quality and value.

Good stuff: It was spotlessly clean.

Overall: I enjoyed my stay at the hotel, it is basic accodmodation, but since I wasn't in my room very much - only for sleeping it wasn't a problem. It was very clean, the staff extremely helpful and friendly. I had a good breakfast each day, plenty of choice. I would probably stay at the hotel again.

Bad stuff: The hotels furnishings needs renewing and modernising

Overall: Pleasant hotel with good staff. In need of some general furnishings modernisation and renewing. Extremely good delicous English breakfast served and value for money accommodation. Hotel tucked away in quiet pleasant location, but convenient for easy access to York Centre.

Good stuff: Comfortable, close to interesting part of town, efficient staff and good value.

Overall: This hotel suited our needs perfectly - modest cost, but clean, tidy and comfortable. It was conveniently located to both the station and city centre, but in a quiet area. The staff were efficient and helpful, the inclusive breakfast was generous, and as a bonus the restaurant served quality meals at a very realistic price. Being several buildings around a central courtyard, it was much more private than a conventional hotel, though this could possibly be less attractive in bad weather. In brief, we felt very much at home here, and would certainly chose it again.

Overall: the stay was very restful. directions to the hotel were good. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Although menu was limited we stayed in the hotel both evenings and enjoyed our meals. drinks were reasonably priced The hotel was only a short walk from the city center and was reasonably priced
