Close to the University of York, Lynton House is a quiet family run B&B in York. In the Fulford area of the city we are withing walking distance of the city and have good access to bus routes that run regularly.

One of the best value for money guest houses in the city. A real treat for a value holiday in the city, we are the perfect budget bed and breakfast in York. You have made the right choice with Lynton House.

Good stuff: The staff were friendly and welcoming.

Bad stuff: The Hotel could use a bit of maintenance, peeling wallpaper in places, crumbling plaster on the surface of a wall in the dining room area, a broken bannister. There was moss on the en-suite shower walls and ceiling and the extractor fan was so clogged up with dust, I'd be suprised if it actuallly worked. Nothing really terrible, could just be better maintained.

Overall: The hotel is on a busy main road outside of York. It is easy to get into York, although busses do not run late evening. Apart from a bit of maintenance there is nothing to dislike and my stay was pleasant enough.

Good stuff: Friendly and helpful staff, good food safe off road parking with easy access to the centre of York on a local bus route,

Bad stuff: Better bathroom facilities i.e. Shelf for toiletries and accessories.

Good stuff: Nice comfy bed.Breakfast was lovely.Friendly staff apart from male owner.

Bad stuff: Not the best of check-ins.The male owner was a little abrupt.Not helpful.

Overall: Good location,less then 2 miles from the centre of York with buses running regularly.Lovely rooms with ensuite bathroom,shower very powerful.Good variation of breakfast.Would definitely stay again.Excellent value for money.

Bad stuff: Small ensuite, needs larger mirrors, traffic noise during peak hours on busy road.

Overall: Comfortable and friendly bed and breakfast only half an hours walk (beside the river) from central york.

Good stuff: Room bright, staff friendly and easy access to the bus stop. No restrictions on how late you could arrive at night.

Bad stuff: I could not find any soap in the bathroom straght away as it was in the shower, so had to use showergel to wash hands.

Overall: I enjoyed my stay and thought it was excellent value for money and hotel was within easy reach of facilities. The payment system was confusing as card details were given over the internet which made me beleive that I had paid, when infact I hadn't, as this was not made clear on the web. I enjoyed the cooked breakfast and felt that there was a freindly community where I felt safe.

Good stuff: It was a walk away from the city centre. Easy to find.

Bad stuff: There was constant traffic noise in the room. En-suit was very cold.

Overall: The hotel was rather basic. The en-suite was extremely small and very cold. The room although adequate contained very little luxury items e.g. soap and was very small. Noise was a big issue from traffic and from other rooms. However it did have a personal feel. The owners tried to make the stay as comfortable as possible and the breakfast was lovely.

Good stuff: lovely setting, own shower room, no curfew

Bad stuff: disappointing room

Overall: Room was very well-kept but disappointingly equipped. the distance from town and the university was rather longer than anticipated (30 minutes walk to either.) No curfew but walls very thin so you can hear everyone who gets in later than you do! The young breakfast staff in particular very friendly and helpful.
