Staying with us will put you right in the centre of historic York, the perfect location, We are inside the medieval walls of the city and a short distance to many York restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions and the railway station.

The Encore is the first in what will be a new brand of hotels. It is a very modern hotel build in the millennium with all the modern facilities you would expect. We are a limited service establishment and thus we keep the cost of somewhere to stay in York down to a very reasonable level.

We are one of the most popular places to stay because we are so well located and good value for money. Nothing in the city is very far away from us. Entertainment, history, good food, wines and Ale are all within walking distance. The local pedestrianised city centre shopping precinct is also close by.

Pay to park car parking is available a couple of minutes walk away. We hope you enjoy your stay with us and remember to bring your walking shoes. York is MADE for the pedestrian.

Good stuff: Spartan but all essentials there. Good Breakfast set up at 5am .

Bad stuff: Paid for 24 hours wireless computer time but failed to pick up connection on 2nd attempted usage , just before lleaving at 0400 hors.

Good stuff: Eeverything was as expected from reviews on net. Good standard of rooms, friendly informed staff staff, great continental breakfast.

Bad stuff: stayed on first floor which was under bus stop so was noisy also friday night but that was to be expected. One overseas staff member on front desk/bar was rather abrupt in person when asked for directions to car park & on phone when I had phoned to check details. There appeared to be plenty of space to have a car park for at least some cars? Especially for people with a disability like myself.

Overall: It was excellent value for money. Near to centre. Friendly staff, Comfortable rooms, liked the adjustable room temp. control. The continental breakfast set us up for the day! Would definitely recommend and stay again.

Good stuff: Overall, a pleasant stay in a very clean and warm room.Ideally situated close to City centre

Bad stuff: Room lacked comfortable seating. There was only one hard typist type chair, and we are two 80 year olds. Also the shower suffered a blockage, which was soon dealt with and can happen in the best run establishments

Overall: A good choice, we had a very pleasant stay. Thakyou

Good stuff: Location was great. Value for money. Open all hours. Clean comfortable rooms.

Bad stuff: Minimum of staff. Nothing you don't pay for in the way of facilities.

Overall: When we booked the hotel we did so because of the price and location. We were in a comfortable, clean room. We will book the hotel again and be happy to stay here. However, it should be made clear that this hotel does not have every facility many others do. It is a budget establishment that does not have any of the extras you would expect. Yes it is perfectly placed and if used as somewhere to sleep and nothing else it is great value for money. But don't expect the Ritz when you are paying such low prices. You get what you pay for here and nothing less. But you also get nothing more. Good bed, good room, good breakfast, good price. We did not want anything more so it was perfect for us.

Bad stuff: The hotel did not update the amended booking even the amendment has been re-cconfirmed by the staff with emails. And the Hotel made a wrong billing by credit card which I have made by cash and official receipt was issued when check-out. I am going to send an email the credit centre and the hotel in a sperate email for cancellation.

Overall: No explation of wrong booking by recepation.

Good stuff: It was very clean

Bad stuff: Rooms are very small, but expected in Europe. I had to call the front desk to get the air conditioning turned on and off. That was a pain

Overall: It was fine for an overnight, but I wouldn't stay more nights there.

Good stuff: Very clean and modern room at a good price

Bad stuff: Could have done with some better car parking facilities, I actually parked in an adjacent hotels car park as they were under occupied and had plenty of car parking room available.

Overall: Excellent value for money, good modern hotel with all necessary facilities for a short break or overnight stay. I wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer than 2 nights as there was no real closet facilitites and the room was on the small side, but for the money and for 1 night this was perfectly acceptable.

Overall: Hotel was close to the city centre just a short walk and overnight car parking just round the corner from the hotel so did not need the car at all during our stay. The booking in was quick as was booking out.The room was very clean and our room looked over the main street but slept well.I would and will stay again.

Good stuff: The Ramada offers good value for money, clean accommodation.

Bad stuff: In every room that I have stayed in there is no socket next to the mirror - sorry but Im a woman! Either put a mirror above the desks or put a socket near the mirror ...PLEASE !!!!!!

Overall: A well postioned hotel - for either business or pleasure. Its central location is ideal. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The facilities for breakfast are great and the food is fine. The coffee lounge in the foyer is a great idea too. I will continue to use the Ramada for my frequent business trips to York but a definite plus would be a 'socket' near a 'mirror' - Designers please note that sockets and mirrors just 'go together' in a womans world !

Good stuff: I liked most, the bathroom facilities. Really nice and clean.

Bad stuff: T.V. Entertainment very limited.

Overall: Our stay was very nice. This is our second time staying at this hotel, and I know we will stay here again, and recommend it to our friends and family.

Good stuff: Kids like the breakfast, particularly. The location of the hotel is perfect for us. It is functional, clean and friendly.

Bad stuff: We could have done with more space - there is a lack of proper family rooms in York and our kids are getting too big for us all to be crammed into one room. Adjoining ones would have been better.

Overall: This was the second time we'd stayed at this hotel, and we enjoed it. We don't drive and therefore like to be near the station, but also near the main sights. This hotel is perfect for that. The staff are friendly and very helpful - nice to the children. We would recommend it (and have indeed recommended it) for a long weekend - any longer and we'd definitely need more space.

Overall: The parking facilities were inadequate. Checking-in was long winded as a result of the receptionist giving priority to phone calls whilst guests were left waiting some considerable time. Breakfast was excellent. Overall cost was reasonable. Would stay again.

Good stuff: The location was perfect

Bad stuff: I was staying for four nights and found that there was very little cupboard space and that i had to keep most of my clothes in my suitcase which i find very unsatisfactory.
