Shoulder of Mutton York 64 Heworth Green

This public house is situated in what used to be a village and half a mile from York's walls. We offer you a great breakfast that many patrons compliment us on. This is a good old-fashioned local pub with all the charm that goes along with it. Getting into the city centre is easy with regular buses.

This pub is located just over 1/2 a mile away (15 mins walk) from Monkgate Bar the Eastern entrance to York city walls. The area we are based in is call Heworth. It used to be a village just outside York. Over many centuries it has become a pleasant suburb of the city. This is one of the few pubs in this nice area of the city and thus has rooms that are open to public on all the year apart perhaps on for a few days.

The breakfast here will set you up for the day very well. you on a trip away so why not treat yourself to the lovely offerings here. Many guests have remarked how fabulous it is saying "Wow, I could not believe my eyes! That was the best breakfast I have had from a b and b in years!". Also "Our breakfast was not buffet style but cooked to order. This makes a change for the better imo. The evening meals at the Shoulder are good and great value. We will be back soon."

This delightful local pub also serves good real ales and the usual where lagers are concerned. There is a small selection of wines and the usual spirits. Basically it is a good out of town pub, nothing out of the ordinary.

There are regular bus routes that run into the city centre from just outside the pub. You could also walk into town quite easily if the mood takes you. It will take about 15 min or so depending on your pace. Whichever you choose you will be in a good position to access all that this lovely city has to offer visitors.
