Perfectly located pub with rooms, inside York city walls, just 3 minutes walk from the famous Shambles. Lovely little rooms are plain and simple but, cheap, comfortable and clean for you.

You cant get much more central than where Watergate Inn pub is. A great place to be in the middle of York's Restaurant Mile along Walmgate. Either way you go out the door here you will be [passing fabulous restaurants and pubs that do food.

Also 3 minutes walk (about 350 yards) up the street, across the river and around the corner, you will be at the start of the cobbled, historic Shambles. Still left as it was in the old days you will love the little shops that are along here as well as, yes you guested it, the fabulous restaurants. About 1/2 way up the Shambles look out for the entrance to Newgate Market. Here all the stalls are set out daily for you. If there is anything you need, this is the place to find it!

We are well inside the city walls very near the city centre. In fact main shopping areas of the city are just off the Shambles as well.

We keep the cost of your visit here low by not being too extravagant. Your rooms here are kept basically decorated with basic furnishings within. The beds are as large as the compact rooms allows with enough space to get in and out comfortably.

Also last but not least we get back to where you will be staying here. We are on Walmgate. At the end of Walmgate is the only surviving Barbican of the city walls. This is a must see. All you do is walk out the door, turn left along Walmgate. Walk 6 minutes up the road covering the 500 yards or so and watch the walls come into view.
