We found it quite difficult to find a seafood restaurant in York at first but then came accross Rarity. This restaurant specialises in steak and seafood, which at first I thought was a bit of an odd combination. However, after both men ordered steak and both women ordered seafood I realized it worked very well.

I had spiced Tomato Mussels followed by the whole baked sea bass tapenade, both cooked to perfection and definately the tastiest mussels I had ever eaten. Both men ordered different carpetbag steaks. One was filled with horseradish and stilton and the other, king prawns and smoked salmon. Both were excelent. The decor is very classy cream and deep red, with a slight 30s influence. The lighting low and moody.
