The village is within easy reach of Scarborough, Whitby and York. If you love walking then simply step out of the front door and choose a direction to meander the Ryedale landscape - filled with churches, cathedrals, manor houses, museums and craft centres.

Sporting activities include golf, horse riding and fishing. A short distance away is the Steam Railway making an alternative way to see the scenery. Castle Howard is the grandest Manor House in the North of England and is filled with antique treasures, furniture, paintings and fine porcelain. Set in a 1000 acres of parkland makes this the perfect place to stroll and take a breather.

A 30 minute drive or train ride and you are in the city of York - filled with wonderful shops, museums, arts, crafts, theatres and cafe bars. This medieval town has so much mystery and magic going on with ghost hunting and the Psychic Museum commissioned by Jonathan Cainer - highly interesting. Take a tour or walk around the city walls or a river boat ride up the Ouse. Finish off with afternoon tea and you're ready to head back to our oasis of peace nestled in the countryside.
