You will find easy access to us from the Hull Road (A1079). There is a good bus service that runs all day along this road and we would recommend using them. This Medieval city is not really built for cars.
The alternative is take the walk down Hull road, through the wonderful barbican at the top of Walmgate and then a strait walk into town. It is about a 20 minutes on foot into town from here. However, there are plenty of sights, pubs, cafes and restaurants to break up the journey along the way.
Ancient Roman city steeped in history, amazing architecture and ghostly goings on make this a most interesting place to visit. We provide a comfortable home from home environment close to the central attractions where you can do lunch, shop, sight see and delve a little deeper in to medieval times.
York Minster is one of the largest Gothic Cathedrals in Northern Europe and probably the most visited sight in York. Next on the list is Jorvik Viking Centre which takes you back to the 10th Century - listen carefully and you can here the warrior cries!
Matters modern and vital include the shopping area - main streets to head for are Coney Street, Spurriergate and Parliament Street and then allow yourself to be led down some of the oldest streets in York where you are bound to find treasure. Quality shops and restaurants can be found down Grape Lane - the once red light area and check out Petergate too. If you want some traditional delights head for The Shambles where you will find old style butchers - one of the best preserved medieval streets of York.
Marvellous museums paying tribute to Richard III, Army Regiment, York Castle, York Dungeon, Air Museum and Farming are all worthy of your time.
Walks, tours and leisurely lunches are all for the taking here in York.

Rating of 3.86 out of 5 Unique ID (2172387) Good stuff: Clean tidy room and en suite facilities. Car-parking was good, and the Lodge was within reasonable walking distance of York centre. Quiet neighborhood. Friendly and helpful service. Bad stuff: Somewhat slow breakfast service. A little difficult to find the hotel by car, as the directions (from the A64) are not quite in keeping with recent changes in traffic lights and signage. Overall: Very much as expected. |
Rating of 4.43 out of 5 Unique ID (2283146) Overall: Very helpful staff. We got many proposals to visit/see at the city. |
