This historic public house, with rooms, was built by Walter Green Penty after the Crimean War. Its name was derived from this time, with the well known charge of the Light Brigade. Also a longstanding relationship with the nearby Imphal barracks. Originally the barracks had calvary regiments stationed at it. The pub is also rumours to have been used as an officers mess a long time back. They were lucky officers now weren't they?
It is made of 2 storeys and built in white brick, so it is hard to miss. There are 8 bays at the front along Fulford Road. There are 2 entrances visible to the public. The main 1 of these is right in the middle of the 8 bays. The other is on the corner. These doors are both noted in the grade II listing so worth a look as you go in.
