Just a few minutes from the central attractions of York, we are placed in a quiet street that dates back to the Victorian era. After careful restoration in 2006 we have combined the contemporary way of living today with the charm and style of a bygone time.

A super choice for couples who wish to enjoy the historical nature of York and still have the peace and quiet you may well be accustomed to. We offer a small number of beautifully adorned ensuite rooms that are homely, peaceful and totally charming. The rooms are filled with light and offer a clean and comfortable place for you to stay and relax. Lovely big showers so you can take that invigorating start to the day. Followed by our hearty and delicious breakfast you are ready for all that York has to offer.

A short way to the centre and there you will find a host of options to choose from. Most famous for its beautiful streets filled with shops, cafe bars, interesting yards and alleyways and wonderful museums. The Minster is the highlight of any visit as is the Jorvik Centre. Those with families should not miss the Tropical World or the amazing Flamingo Land Theme Park and Zoo.

After busy days out and about, know that you are returning to the comforts of home, enjoying a cup of tea in the afternoon with us and perhaps relax by having a round of golf at the nearby 9 hole course.

Good stuff: I thought that the facilities at ashley's were fantastic. It was nice to stay in a guest house/hotel where you were made to feel welcome, as a young couple just wanting to get away from things can sometimes be intimidating in some places but the couple that run this quaint house were incredibly warm and welcoming to all. Also being left to your own plans were was a big help for us. I would recommend to all that ashley's is one of the nicest guest houses i have stayed in in all myt stays at York

Bad stuff: Nothing at all, it wasn't too personal but wasnt impersonal either.

Overall: In the area it Ashley's is situated it is only a ten minute stroll through the park and along the river from the city centre and is very quiet so no major noises etc to disturb you which was great, also the couple that ran the house were amazing, it was personal but not too personal and you felt extremely welcome on entering, it felt like they wanted you to be there which is something i have found that isnt easy to find in guest houses. The room etc where spotless and very comfortable/spacious. Overall the stay was extremely comfortable and great value for money. We will be back!!!!
