Nice rooms here come to you at reasonable prices in an grade II listed public house. Well placed just across the road from historic St Peters school and 10 minutes walk from York walls.

Our rooms are relatively spacious for an old pub. They have been done out to make them very comfortable indeed. Many of the guests stay here have commented on this saying how well the have slept.

The pub itself has a pleasant bar within with a good mix of beverages available. It also does food. There has been an inn on this plot since before this one was built over the original in 1896. Architect W. H. Brierley who was renown for his building of schools. His practises records are now held in the Borthwick Institute in York. This will give you an idea of the historic charisma of the building you are staying in.

We are in a good position for travelers in the lovely inn. We are positioned just across the road from the school where infamous Guy Fawkes was educated, St Peters. That is about 700 yards Northwest of Bootham Bar one of the 4 main entrances to York's walls. This also means the Minster is a little further in the same direction about 900 yards away, which is still easily under a mile.

The city centre from here is again a short walk further. Historic Stonegate is just around the corner from York Minster about 11 minutes walk in total from us. So basically once you are with us and unpacked, a short stroll and you are right in the heart of ancient York.
