This is the perfect b and b for those visiting York. The Holmlea is in a quiet residential area of the city. You will be only a short walk from the city walls staying here. This is a small family run place. They pay specific attention to your individual requirements. You are a very welcome guest when you stay here. If there is anything specific that you require for your breakfast then please do ask us by email before you arrive.

At Holmlea we aim to give you a real home feel when you stay. We want you to be able to relax and thus the big delightful beds are just perfect. The rooms here both your and communal rooms are kept very clean, just as you would have at home, so it is here. We take great pride in the appearance and the feel of every inch here.

The city walls are a sight not to be missed here. In fact it is nearly impossible to miss them as the surround the city. Your first sight of them might well be on the walk into town. About 0.5 miles North (7 minutes walk) and they rise up to greet you. Museums, magic, mystique, theatre, trains, ghosts, dungeons and delights all blend with modern day shopping, lunching and exclusive designer shops in some of the oldest and quaint streets in Europe.

First port of call has to be the largest Gothic Cathedral in Northern Europe - York Minster and then on to the Jorvik Viking Centre - warriors, craftsmen and traders all who have made their mark on our city. Dating back to the 10th Century you can almost here the warrior cries! Spirits.........ghost hunting - why not - there are organised ghost hunting tours in this the most haunted city in Europe. If you think you heard something or saw something then why not head over to the Psychic Museum on Stonegate - an in depth look at your intuition with some rather interesting concepts courtesy of Jonathan Cainer the famous astrologer.

York Maze is another mystical sight and visits to the museums of York Dungeon, Castle, Art Gallery, Model Railway and Brewery are all worthwhile. Get out of the brewery in one piece?......then head for a leisurely lunch and sip tea and delight in the river boats and ambiance of this amazing ancient city.

Good stuff: We got good references on where to eat, what to see, and how to get there.

Bad stuff: Serve Coffee that is brewed not instant. Serve Breakfast in a dining room area..there was no place to eat in our room

Overall: The room was typical of a bed and breakfast in Europe, small but comfortable. Our staff was very accomodating, and pleasant.
