Ours is a charming family run guest house in the heart of the beautiful city of York, offering the latest in modern day comfort to complement the 160 years of history and the wealth of original features. Our location puts all the famed city centre sites right on your doorstep while you stay with us.

We offer a warm welcome at Beckett Guest House to visitors from all over the world and are delighted that so many of our guests keep coming back. They tell us they love the competitive prices, the friendly service, the fabulous standards of cleanliness, and the sumptuous English breakfast that sets them up for the day.

Guest can opt for our single, twin, double or family rooms. Whichever they choose, they'll enjoy the highest standards in terms of comfort and design, matched with all those little touches that make the Beckett House a home from home. Of course, every room comes complete with colour TV, refreshment tray and hairdryer, and needless to say, all the bedrooms offer quality en suite facilities. For the additional comfort of our guests, Beckett House is a non-smoking building throughout.

Good stuff: very friendly, helpful staff. made us feel welcome. bedroom nice and warm. accommodating to our dietary needs.

Bad stuff: dining room on the cold side/drafty. the bedroom was too dark- navy blue painted walls. concerned that the fire escape route was accessed through our bedroom.

Overall: overall, we enjoyed our stay in york and the accommodation met our needs.

Overall: I enjoyed my stay at the Beckett House. The staff was friendly. The accomodations are conveniently located, with just a short walk from the city center. Terrific breakfast--full, lots of options, good quality food.

Good stuff: Lovely guest house, perfectly situated for the city centre. Comfortable, clean and friendly.

Bad stuff: A bar would have been nice.

Overall: We found the guest house great value for money, comfortable and clean. Ideally located for the city centre, parking could be a problem, but wasn't for us. We would certainly use the Beckett again should we re-visit York.

Good stuff: Close to the city centre, friendly staff and beautifully decorated.

Bad stuff: Limited parking on street

Overall: A small but friendly hotel just outside the city walls. Great breakfast and very friendly staff. Comfortable rooms and beautifully decorated. Only downside was that we were expecting a car park and it was roadside parking only although we were able to find a space reasonably easily and were given a parking pass when we arrived. Would highly recommend!

Good stuff: Margaret was wonderful! Very nice location, close to Minster. I'd refer my friends and family.

Overall: We stayed here Aug 2004. Good location right off the A19 and Bootham. Permit parking on quiet row house lined street. The rooms were fine but typical with No Lift. Very nice English breakfast. 1/2 mile walk to the front door of the Minster. Many pubs and restaurants on Bootham and many more inside the walled city. We found that once we drove to Beckett house we did not have to use the car to see the sites of York. People are very friendly.

Overall: The Beckett had everything that we wanted for the two nights that we stayed. Small, clean, very friendly, and not to far to walk to the centre of York.
