Chombeys is a stylishly renovated nineteenth century farmhouse, overlooking the charming village green at Tollerton, right in the heart of the beautiful Vale of York. With spacious and beautifully decorated rooms spread over three floors, Chombeys offers stylish yet discrete service, and is perfectly located for those wanting to explore this beautiful county.

Our location is perfect as a base for exploring; we are just 10 miles from the City of York, whilst the North York Moors, the East Coast and the Yorkshire Dales are all less than an hours drive away.

That is, of course, if you can bear to leave Chombeys: you'll taste the difference in your delicious English breakfast, sourced from local providers and cooked on the Aga. There's a comfortable lounge provided just for guests, and a level of service that you'll find hard to beat.

And it's our bedrooms that will really make it hard for you to head off each morning. All the rooms are spacious and stylish, and each has its own unique characteristics. Maybe you'd like bedroom 1, with a king size bed, restored fireplace and genuine cast-iron pedestal bath in the en suite. Or bedroom 2, with a beautiful four poster bed. Whichever room you choose you'll also enjoy the benefits of a colour TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

Good stuff: The breakfast was ok, with a choice of cereals, yoghurts, toast jams etc.

Bad stuff: The host was rather surly and not particularly friendly or welcoming. The shower in the room didnt work. The room was in the middle of the house and was like staying in someone's spare room - lots of noise from the family and not very private. Decor was rather dated and not particularly well set out.

Overall: General impression of the place is that it isnt good value for money. The host quoted a different room rate than the one on the website when i rang (£20 more!), was quite unfriendly, and the general feel of the place was a bit 'thrown together' - like a spare room in someones house. The village location was lovely, but I wouldnt return to this establishment.

Good stuff: staff were extremely helpful with all queries and when we left an item they posted it back for free within a day.

Bad stuff: took a longt time to get a response when ringing the bell trying to check in.

Good stuff: nice quiet location.Friendly proprietors. Good decorative order, proprieotrs art work hanging on walls

Overall: Good location central for both York & Harrogate. Good directions provided for finding the accomodation. Well presented and good facilities in the room. Owners art work on the walls and available to buy. Good breakfast.

Good stuff: Very 'homely' and welcoming athmosphere.

Overall: The Hotel was a very cosy, warm welcoming place. Has a very nice dining area, with artwork and soft music whilst dining. Rooms are very clean and in character with the building.
