Situated in the middle of the city inside the walls of York the Park Inn hotel in York (ex Moat House) is the perfect place for your holiday or business stay in the city. We are along side the lovely River Ouse and have a small public garden adjacent if you wish to relax and watch the river traffic as it moves gently by. The perfect place for a couple or a large group to stay while visiting the city.

We are a modern hotel with views over the river and York Minster itself. In the perfect location for a trip to visit the medieval Shambles or the famous viking exhibitions and excavations in the city. Our in house restaurant called, the waterside, is perfect for relaxing after a hard days exploring. Its varied menu means you should be able to find something you like. Riverside views are available from many of the tables. No matter why you visit our lovely medieval city we are sure you will not be disappointed when you choose to stay with us.

Good stuff: Great location,ideal for shops,pubs clubs etc.

Bad stuff: Limited car parking spaces at the hotel,alternative car parking in the nearest NCP but this was only 5 minutes walk away.

Overall: Very enjoyable stay, everything is within easy walking distance.Pleasant staff at the hotel. Will stay at the Park Inn again.

Good stuff: Good hotel, excellent room, and the sauna was the icing on the cake! Also very central.

Bad stuff: Can't think of any, apart from the lounge not available on the last day owing to a conference.

Overall: Stayed 4 nights, no problems, first visit to York.

Good stuff: Clean room. Good Shower. Lovely River and Minster view from room. Excellent wine in Restaurants.

Bad stuff: Cleaner/Housekeeping didn't replenish refreshments on the first night, so we needed to ask for more at Reception. Asked for more Decaf Coffee the second day, this was not done.

Overall: Very enjoyable, would rcommend for anyone who wants a decent hotel near the centre of York.

Good stuff: Helpful staff who were happy to provide the extra pillows, shampoo and body wash that we requested. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant staff were helpful and cheerful ? an excellent start to the day!! The hotel is a little dated now but it is still an excellent place to have as a base for an exploration of York.

Bad stuff: The only "bad point" was very much in contrast to our other experiences of the hotel. Our room (317) was adjacent to the service lift area for the 3rd floor and this appears to have been the ?dumping ground? for room service trays. We stayed for 6 nights and the refuse in the service lift area gradually grew over those days. On occasions trays were removed but others replaced them very quickly. This meant that glasses, bottles, crockery and, even worse, food scraps accumulated in the area. The maids who serviced the rooms must have seen this every day as their ?trolleys? had to pass through the area from the lift and yet no action was taken to remove it. We flagged up the situation to reception the day before we were due to leave but the following morning there was no change. We have photos of the area. These photos show the area in a relatively good light in that the trays have been pushed back against the walls, before this happened the trays were spread across the floor and would have caused a hazard had an evacuation of the 3rd floor been necessary.

Overall: The "service area" situation did detract but it was the only aspect of the stay that was negative.

Good stuff: The hotel was ideally located so that we could walk everywhere and did not have to use the car. Staff at front desk very helpful.

Overall: Very pleased with choice of hotel. Loved York and would definately come back and stay at same hotel.

Good stuff: Staff were very friendly and helpful and I was impressed with the standards of cleanliness.

Bad stuff: Breakfast was a bit DIY, although I suppose this speeds the process up and allows for minimal staff coverage.

Overall: Very satisfactory. However I would suggest, for reasons of health and safety, you consider supplying rubber bath mats for use in the shower. In my view there is an accident waiting to happen in this area.

Good stuff: As the room we stayed in had been recently reburbished it was updated to a high standard being modern, clean,fresh and cosy. The restaurant food could not be faulted

Bad stuff: None apart from the reception staff did not tell us you ahd to book a table for evening meal a very slight complaint as we were allocated one imeadiatley

Good stuff: The hotel was clean, bright and centrally located. The staff were friendly and efficient.

Bad stuff: I hate hotel rooms which do not have wardrobes with doors or drawers but merely hanging rails and "spaces" in which to place ones clothing and belongings. Such rooms are, one supposes, adequate for a brief overnight stop but not for a holiday. In addition there was no prior notification that building work was ongoing in the hotel, meaning that taking a nap throughout the day was impossible.

Overall: Our stay was far from dreadful, however the standard of the hotel room was below that which we expected, although I perhaps should have anticipated this as having been reflected in the price. If one is simply seeking a stopover for one night the hotel is fine, and the staff could not be faulted.

Good stuff: The hotel is central to York and easy accessed from all motorway links. There is car parking provided at the hotel at a charge, but this prevents haveing to walk a long way with luggage. Nice size rooms with both bath and shower, some rooms have river side views well worht the extra. The staff are very helpful and pleasent to deal with.

Bad stuff: The decor is getting a bit aged and could do with a spruce, still the rooms are clean presentable

Overall: We stayed two nights, and on arrival was pleased with the location giving easy access to the shops and night life.

Overall: RECEPTION WAS VERY NICE SHAME THE ROOMS WHERE NOT OF THE SAME QUALITY EXTREMLEY DISSAPOINTED TO PAY EXTRA FOR CAR PARKING.
