The Bootham Tavern - A Locals Pub near York City Centre - ReviewsKevin Ireson tells us: This pub has a nice lounge area and a reasonable sized bar. It is a good place to meet up before a night out in the city centre. There are TV screens viewable from most areas. There are many good restaurants within easy walking distance from here. Bar staff and management are friendly and professional. Sports Bar near Bootham BarLocated on Bootham in York this pub has basically remained the same for years. It has a traditional feel to it there is the bar to the left, big screen sports can be watched here when there is something on and the lounge to the right. Whether you like to stand and watch or sit and relax with a drink you are able to do it here and the staff are only to glad to help. A Nice Place to Start a Night Out in YorkThe Tavern is perfectly placed just outside Bootham Bar for you to meet up in and then go further into the city, through the gate. Ales served here include a couple of basic hand pulled along with the standard lagers. No real ale last time I was in, but hey it is a town pub just outside the walls, what do you expect? Small TVs and Friendly StaffThe small televisions make it a good place to settle in for a pint if you like watching sports. Staff are usually friendly and cordial as are the regulars. Many local Yorkies can be found here throughout the day it is what I would call a locals pub in town. When there is a football match on the atmosphere here can turn a little electric in the bar and the lounge. Small televisions in the lounge mean that you can keep in touch with what's going on without it being to invasive. Please mention Hotels in York Ltd website when you call. Thanks. The Bootham Tavern
