York Pubs and Bars

The reviews of pubs in York, in this list, is a joint effort by you the general public and us. Having been online since 2001, we must sincerely thank you for your continued support and contributions over the years. The pubs and bars in York really are some of the best in the country in my opinion.

The real ale / beer we brew here has a world renown reputation. If you like your tipple then come and stay for a few pints. When you visit the city why not stop to enjoy a drink and a meal on a public house tour of York that you will remember. If there is anything that you cant find please email us and we will see if we can help you.

Although we do tend to review the more traditional old pubs of the city, we also have included some wine bars and cocktail bars for you as well. What ever you fancy there is bound to be something here for you. Enjoy!

Our most recent Reviews:

Little John Inn Dave near York sent us an update about the Little John.

The York Arms One of the few gay friendly pubs in York. Just outside of the Minster, it is also nice to pop in for lunch here.

The Priory Micklegate Ricky sent us in what he thought of this Micklegate pub. Good real ale is available here he says.

The Artful Dodger on Micklegate Alice said she liked this pub. Martin, who seems to know the place rather well, sent us in a fuller review of this late night opening pub on Micklegate.

Crystal Place Holgate Road P. Squires sent us a review saying how nice a local pub this is!

Monteys Rock Cafe If you like your rock music LOUD and like beer and cocktails in a cool atmosphere you will like Monteys!

The Bootham Tavern A good place to meet up and start a good night out in York.

The Golden Slipper Patricia Evans sent in some stuff about what having a drink in the Slipper is like.

O'Neils Irish Bar 2 visitors to our fair city sent us in this look at an Irish Theme pub. Thanks, if you visit any other places when you come back let us know.

Kennedys Cafe Bar Jim Astbury sent us this detailed review of good cafe bar.

Judges Lodgings Lesley Gately said she thought it was a nice place to spend the evening.

Old Orleans Cocktail Bar More of a cocktail bar and eating place but definitely worth a mention.

The Snickleways Inn Silvia said she liked this one.

The Junction Leeman Road Good ale music and Sunday Lunch here

Oscars Wine Bar Natalie Rooney gave us a review of this quaint Wine bar and Bistro that is near to stonegate. Nice atmosphere and good food here. This place is one of those that you would like as a tourist or a local and it has been there for years so always a chance to come back.

The Masons Arms A personal review by me and a note from a traveler from a few years back. Good pub food is really what we both have to say about it.

The Seahorse Hotel A personal review by Gary Hingley.

The Last Drop Inn Home page down review to be up shortly - In the middle of York one of the York Brewery's own pubs. Good selection of real ales and a cozy feel.

The Maltings Small real ale pub with loads of beer on tap. Do a good beer fest from time to time if you can get in when there are like 20 barrels of beer in the front t room. Shaun the landlord nice guy. Says hello even if you haven't been in for 2 years. Don't see that very often do ya.

The Minster Inn Quiet place a bit cliche for my liking but nice people generally. Don't take the piss out of any of the staff because they do tend to go red faced and bar you if they cant think of a come back.

Old Grey Mare - A hotel and restaurant in Clifton, about 10 minutes walk from the city centre. Sites shows pricing, photographs and an overview of the venue.

The Royal Oak - Goodramgate pub with an olde world feel. Small rooms and reasonable beer. Attentive staff and your typical big landlord owner, Dave.

The Three-Legged Mare Homepage down review coming shortly - A good real ale pub. No load music just good ale and good company.

Old Star Inn - One of the, if not, the most famous pubs in the city. If you walk along stonegate you will not be able to miss the sign that runs right across the middle.

The Red Lion - this lovely establishment has been home to a good beer for a long time now. Still as good as it ever was.

The Black Swan - Good live music good ale and good company. History may well come alive for you here while you are enjoying the present in this fine ale house.

The Bluebell Inn - this is one of the classic public houses in the city. Small rooms full most of the time good beer with plesent staff and punters alike. You cant go wrong here if you are after a good pint and a chat.

If you have been to a York pub and enjoyed your stay, food, beer why not tell people about it? There are lots of pubs in York and I can't drink in them all.
