The York Arms Pub York North Yorkshire England - ReviewsKevin Ireson says: This is the best known venue in York which is "Gay Friendly". Management and staff have come and gone but there just is no way you can change this aspect of the pub. I hear you all asking "Why not?" Well, for a population of 200,000 people, there has to be somewhere for gay people to drink. This is and always has been it. From the days when famous thespians from the Theatre Royal used to pop in in the 60's until now. LocationThis is the closest pub to York Minster. As you can see from the pictures, it is litterally on the doorstep. It is a Samuel Smiths managed pub. It serves all the well known Sam's pints and little else. The have never realy been known for the ale they serve but, it does get drunk. Food in the Afternoon - Good Pub GrubFood hear is of reasonable quality. Last time I ate here they had a good Large Yorkshire Pudding filled with Onion Gravy and Sausages on the menu. It was by al acounts a firm house favourite and specialty. There is always a nice selection of traditional pub grub available.
Paulo sent us his thoughts: Always gay. The sad thing is that Sam Smiths Brewery have had a succession of 3rd rate temporary, stand in, etc. etc. managers. Result? A fall in standards about which Sam Smiths appear to care not at all. So sad! Please mention Hotels in York Ltd website when you call them. Thanks. The York Arms
