The best known venue in York which is known as "Gay Friendly". Management and staff have come and gone but there just is no way you can change this aspect of the pub. I hear you all asking "Why not?" Well, for a population of 200,000 people, there has to be somewhere for gay people to drink. This is and always has been it. From the days when famous thespians from the Theatre Royal used to pop in in the 60's until now.

Drinks

Located within sight of York Minster this is a Samuel Smiths managed pub. It serves all the well known Sam's pints and little else. The have never been known for the ale they serve but, it does get drunk.


Food in the Afternoon

Food hear is of reasonable quality. They used to have a good Large Yorkshire Pudding filled with Onion Gravy and Sausages. This was a firm house favourite and specialty. There is always a nice selection of pub grub available.
