Four High Petergate York Bistro

Webmasters review: I went in this place with my friend David. It looked nice from the outside. As it was time for dinner I thought, why not? Both of us were rather impressed.

A good standard of service with well presented and tasty dishes. It was a little cramped to be honest but, the price of the good meal was quite reasonable. So I couldn't complain really. I will mention it anyway because i am like that sometimes. Although the Bistro is kind of out of vogue at the moment, the relaxing time spent in here would make me come again.

Kes Webster wrote in to tell us about this Bistro in York: The restaurant with the easy to remember location. Given that its address is also the name of this small bistro lying underneath the city walls. That by the way is directly under the walls, infact under Bootham Bar itself!

I visited the restaurant one evening for the early bird menu and was overawed, not by the extensive choice but the caliber of dish available to early bird diners. I, about to become a vegetarian, went for one last meat fix and had the lamb shank. Wow! The meat literally fell from the bone in the most wonderful and moist style and the mash was full of lovley herbs and spices. Truly a great dining experience. Great food and a great wine list to match. Reasonably priced too. Who could ask for more?

Margaret Avery sent us these comments: Food is wonderful, service is great and it is always a treat to eat here. Some of the customers are a bit stuffy though. You do feel as if you are eating with the foodies!
