Jack says: I have been here a number of time for great meals. Recently I went back to find with the success of the restaurant they had expanded upstairs. Unfortunately it didn't work for me. The noise of all the staff and customers clamouring for attention took away from what used to be a very pleasant intimate experience. Also when my chocolate fondant arrived, it had a blob of cold ice cream on top of it. As I put my spoon into it expecting the luscious centre to ooze out, it was nearly solid. I attempted to tell the waiter that cold falls and heat rises but this was dismissed. I thought it a little bit rude him saying "So you got a fondant with a nearly solid centre. So what?". Not best pleased. I hope it is a little better, like it was last year next time I go.
David H. Mattock says: I have lived in York for only a year and read about this place first on this website. So I decided to visit based on the reviews here. I was not disappointed. A good atmosphere, good service and fabulous food. Well worth a visit for any local or visitor to the city. Top marks all round and good value for money.

Webmasters comments: An interesting and changing menu with a definite French feel to it. You will find some classic recipes here as well as some that you may not yet have tried. A good selection of wines from around Europe and the new World.
Jane liked this place very much and tells us: I have eaten here twice and loved it both times. Booking was essential, as the little restaurant gets very busy. Not surprising really, as very good quality food and good value for money. I would go more often, but often can't get in. Brilliant find - worth persevering.
